Focal Point - Scot Templeton BA’93(Adv)
Scot Templeton’s passion for photography began in high school, where he honed his photography skills and learned his way around a darkroom. He has combined his love of travel with photography, exploring various corners of the world, from the Caribbean Islands to the American Southeast and Northwest, Alaska, the UK, and as recently as 2019, Ukraine. Templeton’s photos have been published by the Red Cross and Fine Lifestyles Magazine, among others. His portfolio encompasses a wide range of subjects, from landscapes, wildlife, and plant life, to urban landscapes, still life, macro photography, and captivating portraits. Templeton. a U of R staff member, was recently awarded a U of R President’s Award for Service Excellence in the Creative Initiative category.
Templeton and his wife, Mindy Derkatch, are proud parents of two boys, William and James. William, a student at the University of Regina, is pursuing engineering while making a name for himself on the Rams football team. Beyond his professional and photographic pursuits, Scot enjoys hobbies such as disc golf, cooking, and music, reflecting his diverse interests and passions.
